Leading biotech innovators & startups shine at Global Bio-India 2023 Awards

BIRAC announces dates for Global Bio-India 2024 summit- 19th to 21st September

The 3rd edition of Global Bio-India, a mega international congregation on biotechnology, held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from 4rth to 6th December, recognised the contribution of big biotech players during the pandemic, as well as supported the biotech entrepreneurs, in the form of Global Bio-India 2023 Awards.

Players like Gennova Biopharmaceuticals, Bharat Biotech International, Zydus Lifesciences and Biological E were awarded for their outstanding contribution to pandemic management. Serum Institute of India was given recognition in the category of ‘Affordable vaccine development.’

Eyestem Research and Levim Biotech won the innovator award in the area of healthcare-therapeutics and vaccines; Althion Tech Innovations received recognition in the category of Healthcare- Devices & Diagnostics; OmniBrx Biotechnologies won an innovator award in the area of industrial biotechnology.

In the area of agriculture, Acsen Hyveg and ICAR- Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) Kullu won the innovator award; while Salcit Technologies and Christian Medical College, Vellore won the innovator award in the category of artificial intelligence. Haystack Analytics won recognition in the area of genomics.

A set of awards were given to bioincubators across tier I, II and III cities with Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre winning in the tier I category; BioNEST Punjab University, Chandigarh and Yenepoya Technology Incubator, Mangalore in the tier II category; and Association for Bio-inspired Leaders and Entrepreneurs of SASTRA TBI (ABLEST), Thanjavur in the tier III category. Centre for Healthcare and Entrepreneurship, IIT Hyderabad was given an award for the Best Bioincubation Centre Exhibit.

Further, Pragmatech Healthcare Solutions won the startup award in the category of Healthcare (Devices & Diagnostics); while Zzwick Hygience won the startup award in the category of Healthcare (Therapeutics). The Industrial Biotech award in the area of agriculture was given to Greenshift Energy; and Chimertech won recognition in the area of aquaculture and veterinary.

Ahammune Biosciences won an award for Woman Entrepreneur, and Water & Soil from Hungary won an award as an international participant.

In addition, SPARSH Social Innovator (SPARSH Fellows) awards were given to Abhishek Gaikar (Atal Incubation Centre- CCMB); Madhura Vinod Jadhav (Maker village); and Ekshika Bhagtani (Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer or FITT)

Taking the legacy of Global Bio-India 2023 forward, Dr Jitendra Kumar, Managing Director, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), announced the dates for the 4rth edition of Global Bio-India summit which is all set to take place from 19th to 21st September 2024.
