IOTA DIAGNOSTIC, a healthcare start-up based in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, proudly unveiled its ground-breaking medical device, the iOTA BioSampler, during the 3rd edition of Global Bio India 2023 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Madan, New Delhi. This innovative product which has already received market approval from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) in August 2023, is all set to revolutionize diagnostic accessibility, particularly in remote areas.
Distinguished figures such as Dr Jitendra Kumar, MD, BIRAC, Dept of Biotech, Govt of India, Shri Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, Dr Rajesh Gokhale, Secretary, DBT, Chairman, BIRAC, Dr Shirshendu Mukherjee Mukherjee, Mission Director – Grand Challenges India, Dr Manish Diwan – SPED, BIRAC, graced the launch event, emphasizing the significance of this technological advancement. The iOTA BioSampler introduces a user-friendly approach to remote collection of blood and other bio-fluids, eliminating the need for cold chain logistics. Patients can conveniently self-withdraw samples, ensuring a seamless, accurate, and convenient experience. With key features like dry matrix technology, simplified laboratory processing, and precision, the iOTA BioSampler is poised to redefine sample collection in both the diagnostic industry and clinical research.
IOTA DIAGNOSTIC's mission is to enhance diagnostic access in underserved areas, particularly remote locations, in a cost-effective manner. The user-friendly design of the iOTA BioSampler empowers patients to collect blood samples independently. Beyond its practical applications, the device contributes significantly to societal well-being by reducing the stigma associated with diseases like HIV, cancer, TB, and other infectious diseases.
Patients can store their samples using the device and send them to pathological labs for test reports, making advanced diagnosis and healthcare treatment accessible to a wider segment of the Indian population, including economically disadvantaged sections, thereby eliminating the barriers posed by long-distance travel and logistics.
The start-up is funded and supported by Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council-Department of Biotechnology, SRISTI Innovations, Ahmedabad, Industries and Mines Department, under Start-up and Innovation Policy, Govt. of Gujarat, i-Hub Gujarat, and Savli Technology and Business Incubator. IOTA DIAGNOSTIC has been recognized with the SITARE-Gandhain Young Technological Innovation Award and stands as an emerging healthcare start-up in Gujarat.
