Medii and Chiba University start collaboration on pediatric rheumatic diseases

Aiming to build a medical system that enables appropriate diagnosis and initial treatment of pediatric rheumatic diseases

Medii Co. Ltd. and Chiba University have started collaboration with the aim of building a medical system that enables appropriate diagnosis and initial treatment of pediatric rheumatic diseases. We will provide hospitals in the Kanto region with a free consultation system for pediatric rheumatologists affiliated with the MPRC regarding diagnosis and treatment policies for pediatric rheumatic diseases using Medii's online specialist consultation service. This initiative is a medical education project subsidized by the Japanese Society of Rheumatology and Pfizer Japan Inc. "Hospital-clinic collaboration model building program for undiagnosed rheumatic diseases 2022" This is part of the "Hospital Examination/Hospital Cooperation" project.

Yuzaro Inoue, Specially Appointed Associate Professor at Chiba University Graduate School of Medicine and Vice President of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Rheumatology, led the "Project for Hospital Diagnosis and Hospital Collaboration between Pediatric Rheumatology Specialized and Non-Specialized Facilities". Utilizing Medii's E-consult system, we will build a medical system that allows online consultation with specialists regarding clinical questions about pediatric rheumatic diseases.

For pediatric medical institutions in the Kanto region where pediatric rheumatologists are absent, we will provide a system that allows online chat consultation with specialists regarding diagnosis and treatment policies for pediatric rheumatic diseases through E-consultation. Pediatric rheumatism specialists belonging to the MPRC* will respond to case consultations.

Pediatric rheumatic disease is a general term for rheumatic diseases that develop in childhood. It is a rare disease with symptoms and course different from those of adult-onset rheumatic diseases, and there are fewer patients than adults. However, recent advances in medicine have shown that appropriate treatment can improve life prognosis and functional prognosis. . Therefore, appropriate diagnosis and initial treatment in the early onset are extremely important. However, there are very few rheumatologists who specialize in pediatrics, and there is a problem that the medical system that can provide appropriate diagnosis and initial treatment is not in place.

In response to this issue, Chiba University is promoting the "Project for Diagnosis and Disease Collaboration between Pediatric Rheumatology Specialized Facilities and Non-Specialized Facilities".
